Taiwan Exports Stand at US$153.4 Billion in 1H14: MOF

Taiwan's exports inched up 2.0% year-on-year to reach US$153.4 billion in the first half of 2014, according to MOF's (Ministry of Finance) report on July 7. For the month of June, the country's exports totaled US$26.8 billion, up 1.2% year-on-year, thanks to strong exports of electronic products, including semiconductor products and STBs (Set-top-Box), basic metals and articles thereof, and machineries. As regard to export destination, Taiwan's exports to the United States reached around US$3.1 billion in June— the third month in a row where the monthly export value exceeding US$3.0 billion. Meanwhile, Taiwan's exports to Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, and European countries all saw positive growth while exports to ASEAN-6 dropped by 7.1% to US$4.96 billion in June.
